What is the Classics?
The Classics is the premier golf course of Lely Resort. It is one of a trio of courses, designed specifically to accentuate the stunning beauty of the region and deliver an added level of challenger members seek.
Who designed it?
The Classics is designed by grand Slam winner Gary Player. Player brought his revered playing skills to the design of the course. With nine major championships on his belt from the regular tour and another nine from championships, you can say Gary Player is a real, well, player. He has 163 professional wins to his credit and is widely considered one of the top golfers in history.
What is its design like?
Gary Player always had an eye for beauty and nature. He often leaned more into the landscape and lush design over the unnatural challenge. Specifically, he coated the Classics with majestic tropical vegetation, adding a lovely scenic backdrop to every hole. But the terrain offers a substantial challenge. Sand dunes are plentiful, matched against open and perfectly-manicured greens. Expect to glide fast along with the grasses, avoiding deep bunkers and stone walls lining up against numerous lakes.
